What Is a Holy Water Pot?
A holy water pot (also called an aspersorium or stoup) is a liturgical vessel used to hold holy water for the rite of aspersion (sprinkling) and for the faithful to bless themselves upon entering the church.
Types of Holy Water Pots
- Wall-mounted stoups — installed near church entrances for congregational use
- Aspersorium — used by the priest or deacon during the sprinkling rite at Mass
- Portable holy water pots — for home use and pastoral visits
Materials
Our holy water pots are crafted from brass, bronze, marble, and ceramic. Each piece is designed for dignified liturgical use and features decorative elements such as crosses, Chi-Rho symbols, or images of saints.
Blessing Holy Water
Holy water is blessed by a priest using the rite found in the Roman Ritual. It is a sacramental that reminds us of our Baptism and protects us from evil.
