What Is a Candle Snuffer?
A candle snuffer (also called an extinguisher) is a liturgical tool used to safely extinguish candles during and after Mass. It consists of a small cone-shaped cup attached to a handle, which is placed over the flame to cut off its oxygen supply.
Why Use a Snuffer?
Using a snuffer is safer and more dignified than blowing out candles. It prevents wax from splattering, reduces smoke, and maintains the reverent atmosphere of the sanctuary.
