Icon of Our Lady of Oziornoje - Kazakhstan

Oziornoje is a village founded by Poles who were exiled to Siberia in 1936. During World War II, the town was gripped by poverty and hunger. The inhabitants prayed fervently to the Virgin Mary for help. On March 25, 1941, during the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, melting water filled the dried-up channel of the lake, and a multitude of fish appeared in the water. The residents of Oziornoje were saved, and each considered this eventSanctuary a miracle performed by the Virgin Mary. In 1990, a parish dedicated to the Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace, was established, and the construction of a church began. In 1995, the sanctuary of the Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace, was established. People from Kazakhstan and all over the world come on pilgrimage to give thanks for the protection of the Virgin Mary and for their lives being spared. In memory of the events of the war, a statue of the Virgin Mary with a net full of fish was placed on the shore of the lake on June 24, 1997.
