Veils

The hand-embroidered priest's veil is used by the priest when he blesses the faithful with the Blessed Sacrament present in the monstrance. The veil is put on the shoulders of the priest during the liturgy by a sacristan or minister before the blessing itself. The blessing with the Blessed Sacrament in monstrance is called the sacramental blessing. Priest also uses the veil in the procession, during which the monstrance is carried.
